| Probably the best view in Maine. Features a panoramic view of the lake, mountains and forest to the north and west. Great sunsets! |
| Lily Bay State Park: 5 miles |
| Picnicking, camping, sandy beach, boat launching to Moosehead, x-c skiing in winter. Ranked as best State Park in Maine. |
| Moose Alley: |
| The 15 miles on Lily Bay Rd. between Sandy Bay and Kokadjo abound with moose at roadside from early spring into summer at dawn and dusk. A must drive. Numerous logging roads accessible by 2-wheel drive on either side. |
| The “Kate”: 6 miles |
| Last remaining steamboat on Moosehead Lake takes passengers on “3-hour-tour” daily and to head of lake once a week. On National Historic Register. Also, Moosehead Marine Museum on site. |
| Floatplane Base: 6 miles |
| Currier’s provides sightseeing flights and access to remote lakes and ponds to the north. “Fly-in”, weekend after Labor Day draws largest gathering of floatplanes in U.S. |
| Moose Mountain formerly known as “Squaw Mountain”: 12 miles |
| Hiking trails and chair lift to summit and fire tower (oldest in U.S.), great (and inexpensive) skiing in winter. |
| B-52 crash site: 10 miles |
| A very short hike off the logging road on Elephant Mountain reveals the remains of a B-52 that crashed there in 1963. Parts of the aircraft can be found over several acres. Local snowmobile club maintains a memorial there. |
| Mt Kineo & Mt. Kineo Golf Course: 26 miles |
| Take the shuttle boat from Rockwood Landing for hiking on the mountain and a view from the 800’ cliff face. Fire tower on top. An easy 1-hour hike up (good with kids) |
| West Branch Area: Golden Road about 30 miles north on Lily Bay Rd. |
| Access to Mt. Katahdin, Baxter State Park, Penobscot River rafting and several million acres of working forestland and remote lakes. |
| Pittston Farm: 50 miles |
| Above west shore of Moosehead on Seboomook Lake, it’s an old logging base camp that serves great (all-you-can-eat) dinners. Make reservations. |

| Base for whitewater rafting on the upper Kennebec and Dead Rivers. |
